Frequently Asked Questions

What is military time?

Military time is the 24-hour clock written without a colon, so 1:00 PM becomes 1300 and 2:30 PM becomes 1430. Midnight is 0000 and noon is 1200. It removes the AM/PM ambiguity, which is why the military, aviation, medicine, and most of the world use it.

How do I convert PM times?

For PM hours from 1 to 11, add 12: 2:30 PM plus 12 hours gives 14:30, written 1430. 12 PM (noon) stays 1200. For AM hours the number is the same, just zero-padded: 8:00 AM is 0800, and 12 AM (midnight) becomes 0000.

Does it handle seconds?

Yes. If you include seconds (for example 2:30:45 PM), the military output becomes a 6-digit value 143045 and the colon form is 14:30:45.

Can I convert a whole list at once?

Yes. Put one time per line in the input and the tool returns a tab-separated table with the input, military, 24-hour, 12-hour, ISO, and words columns. Lines it cannot parse are marked ERR with the reason, so the rest still convert.

What about noon and midnight?

You can type the words noon (gives 1200) and midnight (gives 0000) instead of digits. Note that 2400 is treated as end-of-day midnight, equal to 0000 of the next day.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.
