How to Use Generate a Geometric Sequence
- Set the start and common ratio. The start is the first term; each term is multiplied by the ratio.
- Choose how many terms and a separator. Decide the length and layout.
- Generate. The sequence appears, with each term the same factor times the last.
- Copy the result. Click Copy result. It all runs in your browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a geometric sequence?
A list where each term is the previous one multiplied by a fixed factor, the common ratio, such as 1, 2, 4, 8 with a ratio of 2.
Can the ratio be a decimal or less than one?
Yes. A ratio between zero and one shrinks the terms, and a decimal ratio gives fractional growth.
How many terms can I generate?
Up to 10,000. With a ratio above one the terms grow quickly, so a smaller count is usually enough.
What are geometric sequences used for?
Compound growth, interest, scaling, and many patterns in maths and science.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The sequence is generated in your browser, so nothing leaves the tab.
