Normalize Unicode Text Online
Normalize text to a standard Unicode form (NFC, NFD, NFKC, NFKD) for consistent comparison, search, and storage.

Processed locally in your browser. Your text never leaves this tab.
How to Use Normalize Unicode Text Online
- Paste your text. Especially handy for text copied from different sources that may encode accents differently.
- Choose a form. NFC composes characters (the most common choice); NFD decomposes them; NFKC and NFKD also fold compatibility characters like ligatures and full-width letters.
- Normalize it. The result updates instantly, and the code point count before and after is shown so you can see the effect.
- Copy the result. Click Copy result. It all runs in your browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Unicode normalization?
The same text can sometimes be stored in more than one way, for example an accented letter as a single character or as a base letter plus a combining mark. Normalization rewrites it into one standard form so comparisons and searches behave consistently.
Which form should I use?
NFC is the safest default for storage and display because it keeps text compact and composed. Use NFD when you need to separate base letters from their marks, and the NFK forms when you also want to fold compatibility characters.
What is the difference between NFC and NFKC?
NFC only composes characters that are exact equivalents. NFKC goes further and also replaces compatibility characters, so a ligature like fi becomes f and i and a full-width letter becomes a normal one.
Why does the code point count change?
Decomposing splits one character into several, and composing merges them back, so the number of code points can go up or down even though the text looks the same.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Normalization runs in your browser and your text never leaves the tab.
