How to Use Spoof Unicode Text

Spoof Unicode Text · free online tool · All Tools Verse
Spoof Unicode Text. Free online tool that runs in your browser.
  1. Paste your text. A word or phrase made of Latin letters works best.
  2. Choose a direction. Spoof swaps Latin letters for look-alike characters from other alphabets; Unspoof converts those look-alikes back to plain Latin.
  3. Convert it. The result looks almost identical but uses different underlying characters, which is exactly how homoglyph tricks fool the eye.
  4. Copy the result. Click Copy result. It all runs in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a homoglyph?

A homoglyph is a character that looks like another one but has a different Unicode value, such as a Cyrillic letter that looks identical to a Latin one. Side by side they are hard to tell apart.

What is this tool for?

It is meant for learning and defense: seeing how look-alike characters can disguise a word helps you understand phishing and spoofing, and the Unspoof direction helps you clean suspicious text back to plain Latin.

Does the spoofed text still read the same?

To a human it looks almost the same, but to a computer the characters are different. That mismatch is what makes homoglyphs risky in links and usernames.

Can it clean look-alikes out of pasted text?

Yes. Switch to Unspoof and the known look-alike characters are converted back to their plain Latin equivalents.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and your text never leaves the tab.
