Frequently Asked Questions
How is running pace calculated?
Pace is your finish time divided by the distance. For example, 50 minutes over 10 km is a pace of 5 minutes per kilometer. The tool shows it in minutes and seconds.
What is the difference between pace and speed?
Pace is time per distance, such as 5:00 per kilometer, while speed is distance per time, such as 12 km/h. They describe the same effort in opposite ways, and the tool shows both.
What are split times?
Splits are the times you should reach at each kilometer or mile if you hold an even pace. They help you plan a race and check whether you are on target.
How do I convert pace between km and miles?
One mile is about 1.609 kilometers, so a per mile pace is longer than a per kilometer pace. The tool works out both for you from a single entry.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The numbers you enter never leave your computer and the tool works offline once loaded.
Can I use it for walking or cycling?
Yes. Although it is built for running, the pace and speed math is the same for walking, cycling or any steady effort over a known distance.
